The recovery parachute system shall be designed to decelerate the recoverable body from the speed and altitude at which it is traveling prior to recovery to allow it to rest on the ground or water with minimum damage. The recovery parachute system shall consist of the following subsystems: parachute, deployment, release and controls, and landing shock-absorbing or flotation, as applicable to the type of body to be recovered.
